In August 2004 a local stray was hit by a car

The dog was picked up by animal control and put in an uncovered, stretch metal cage in 100 degree heat for four days. On the fifth day an animal advocate who heard of the animals plight took possession of him and took him to the vet.

The dog, now named Zeke, had injuries which included a broken back, pelvis, and two legs. There was no choice but to humanely euthanize Zeke. On this day the Zeke Fund came into being with the promise  - Never Again!

a decrepit run

Zeke's Fund mobilized

Building ten new covered runs ....

Zeke's Fund pays for the vetting of the animals and supplies the food for the pound. Expansion of the compound to add another bank of runs and an exercise area is behind schedule. Because of our aid the city has cut the existing pound budget....

......sadly the stretch metal cage is still in use

Temporary, standalone have been added to handle the increased inflow of dogs. Tarps are used to provide protection from the wind and rain. Picture 12/15/05
